Tallahassee Contemporary Dance Classes

The contemporary dance style was developed by dance pioneers in the early 20th century. The type of dance produced by these reformers originated from personal interpretations or inner feelings and not the typical structured steps, as seen in traditional ballet dancing. A contemporary dancer is encouraged to use emotion and mood to perform movements that were atypical compared to traditional dancing.

A contemporary dancer at the Sharon Davis School of Dance studios in Tallahassee will be led through many strengthening exercises during a class and taught unique and creative movement based on inner feelings and aesthetic awareness. This genre of dance has become very popular among dancers. Shoes are not required for this class.
